Douglas Macmillan Hospice is looking for a qualified counsellor to join their established Counselling & Emotional Support Service at the Wellbeing Centre in Stoke-on-Trent. This full-time role, with a salary range of £30,000 - £35,000 depending on experience, requires the candidate to provide counselling and emotional support to patients, carers, and families, including children and young people. The counsellor will manage an independent caseload, conduct assessments, formulate therapy plans, and collaborate with the multidisciplinary team, while also offering training and support to volunteer and student counsellors.

The ideal candidate must have professional affiliation with a recognized body (e.g., BACP, NCPS), undergo a DBS check, and possess a valid driving license. Key responsibilities include managing clinical risk, maintaining ethical standards, participating in ongoing professional development, and contributing to service evaluation and policy development. The role also demands personal resilience and the ability to foster therapeutic relationships amidst the sensitive context of palliative care. Flexibility in working hours is required, with some evening work anticipated.
