This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced and enthusiastic Consultant Practitioner Psychologist to lead and further develop a high quality, responsive and accessible MDT for children, young people, their families and carers in Hillside Secure Children's Home, Neath. This will include developing and maintaining an overall vision for the service and ensure operationalisation of that vision in practice. Swansea Bay Mental Health Division and the CAMHS service will host this new team funded by the Local Authority. This service will launch afresh amid the repatriation of CAMHS to Swansea Bay UHB. This post will be professionally embedded in Swansea Bay Child Psychology. Multiple posts will be advertised for the team following the commencement of this post-holder. There are excellent relationships between all professional groups within the Mental Health Division and the post holder will be a valued member of the Professional Leads group.

The post holder will be welcomed into the broader Swansea Bay Child Psychology network, and will be expected to play an active role in collaborating with other child psychologists on joint projects and initiatives. Child Psychology is a thriving department, who meet regularly for CPD, reflective practice and service developments and the post holder will be welcomed into the ongoing programme of clinical and professional development.

The post holder will professionally lead an MDT providing into the Hillside Secure Children's Home, and work in partnership with the Adult MH Division to ensure appropriate leadership, governance and management structures are in place.

They will be supported in the provision of psychological interventions to Hillside by a Full Time 8a Psychologist and Part time Family Therapist and will be expected to ensure a robust psychological assessment, formulation and care and treatment plan is in place for each child. This opportunity will afford them direct and indirect clinical work, allowing them to offer a range of psychological interventions to the children, young people, their families and networks. They will be expected to partner with Hillside staff and the MDT to ensure that the care plans are applied in practice and that staff are robustly supported and enabled to meet the children and young people's needs to the best of their ability and manage the emotional context in which the work is embedded including the need to be trauma informed in the care delivered.

The lead psychologist will ensure systems are in place for reviewing and evaluating the service, and for ensuring good clinical governance across the MDT. They will help to ensure other psychologists and psychological therapists, MDT team members have appropriate support and supervision in place and are enabled to develop their professional competencies and careers.
