We are excited and proud to offer opportunities to become part of our dynamic Surgery Nursing Team. We are looking for nurses who have initiative, a wide range of experience and an interest in surgery to work on our ward and rotate into our day surgical unit.
Ward 3D has 46 beds and is designed to provide a variety of surgical procedures and care to all our elective green pathway surgical patients. As such, it offers excellent opportunities to expand your experience in surgical nursing and provides experience in treating a wide range of complex surgical condition such as Orthopaedic, Vascular, Colorectal, Hepatobilary , Gynae & Neuro Oncology, Max Fax and Ear Nose & Throat. It is a well led ward managed by a highly focused and friendly team of experienced nurses.
We have two Day Surgery Unit (DSU), one at the Royal London site and the other at Mile End Hospital both units are designed to perform procedures to both Ambulatory Trauma and elective patients whose procedure can be performed without the need of an overnight stay. This benefits the patient as they can return to their normal home environment as soon as they have recovered from the procedure. As we develop our service the Day Surgery Units (DSU) may evolve.
Our practice development nurses offer a structured programme, underpinned by workplace competency assessments and activities that will guide you achieve your own personal and professional learning needs. The nursing team are multi-skilled and being continually trained and developed to care for all surgical specialties within the trust .Whatever your future career goals, this department provides a fantastic opportunity to gain invaluable experiences and opportunities in surgical nursing in a large teaching hospital.
The Government has announced that the legal requirement for all NHS workers in England, to be double vaccinated, is currently under legislative review.
We do however encourage those in roles that have face to face contact with patients to be double vaccinated against COVID-19 (unless they are medically exempt), and are continuing to support the vaccination uptake for all staff as this remains the best line of defence.
