SYNOPSIS •  • 

Nottinghamshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Healthcare Assistant for HMP Fosse Way, a newly opened Category C Resettlement Prison in Leicestershire. This role involves providing holistic healthcare support to a vulnerable male population, focusing on rehabilitation and reintegration into society.

The successful candidate will work in a small team as part of the Offender Health Care Group, delivering care that includes managing immediate healthcare needs, ensuring continuity of prescribed medications, and facilitating safe discharges. Emotional support to prisoners is also a key component of the role.

Responsibilities include:

  • Supporting GP and nursing staff in various clinics, including assisting with minor surgeries.
  • Conducting health assessments, clinical triage, and emergency responses.
  • Carrying out technical procedures such as wound care, venepuncture, and physical observations.
  • Promoting health activities (e.g., sexual health screening, smoking cessation).
  • Maintaining a safe and compliant clinical environment.

The position requires availability for various shifts, as the healthcare service operates 24/7. Applicants should demonstrate an understanding of offender health services in their applications. Note that this role does not meet the Skilled Worker visa salary threshold.
