University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust is delighted to offer a fantastic opportunity to work with us. Please see below for a detailed job description for the role. An exciting opportunity has arisen within our neonatal intensive care unit for 2 band 6 clinical facilitators. Due to the current expansion of our neonatal unit we are looking to recruit highly motivated and skilled individuals to support new staff and students within the unit. One of these clinical facilitators will be based on our new Woodland Ward Special Care Baby Unit supporting new staff as they join the unit, guiding them through their initial foundation training and providing them with clinical support as they adapt to their new role. The other post is primarily managing student placements and supporting students in practice. Clinical skills training and education for existing staff will be required for both of these roles. Attached you will find the person specification document which provides more detail about the essential and desirable skills and experience needed for this role. We highly recommend you review this document and use it when completing your application as these criteria are used by hiring managers as guidance during shortlisting. For an overview of the main duties of the role please see the 'Job Description and Main Responsibilities' section below. To understand the day-to-day responsibilities in more detail please read the full job description document attached. About us As the largest neonatal unit on the South Coast, we are looking to expand our education team to meet the rising clinical demands within the unit. Once our expansion plan is complete we will be providing expert care to 41 babies including 12 ITU, 13 HDU and 16 special care infants and their families. We believe that staff training and development is central to the delivery of high quality, safe and effective care for our infants and families. If you have a passion for education and are interested in helping us to achieve this goal we would love to hear from you. Working closely with the Lead Educator and the rest of the Neonatal Education Team you will support and facilitate education and learning within a classroom setting and in the clinical environment. You will be a registered nurse (adult or child) / registered midwife with a neonatal 'Qualified in Speciality' qualification and a current Neonatal Life Support qualification. Experience of working in a level 3 neonatal intensive care unit and previous band 6 experience is desirable but not essential. Post 1: Clinical facilitator Woodland Ward - Our ideal candidate would be expected to: Plan and facilitate teaching sessions alongside the Lead Educator on our 'welcome week' induction programme. Support the induction of new staff within clinical practice and guide them through the initial stages of the Tier 1 QIS Foundation programme. Provide a rolling education programme / refresher skills training to existing staff primarily working within Woodland Ward. Post 2: Clinical Facilitator Pre-Registration Students - Our ideal candidate would be expected to: Manage student placements in conjunction with the local universities and the wider education team(s) within the Trust. Support students in clinical practice as required, and facilitating a student forum on a regular basis where they can reflect on their practice and expand their clinical knowledge. Have a working knowledge of the NMC Supporting Learning in Practice Standards for Pre-Registration Education.
