The Mid Yorkshire Teaching NHS Trust and Wakefield Hospice are seeking a dynamic Locum Consultant in Palliative Medicine for a one-year fixed-term position, primarily based at Pinderfields Hospital and Wakefield Hospice. The successful candidate will join a dedicated specialist palliative care team, providing comprehensive services across community and hospice settings. Key responsibilities include supporting the community specialist team, conducting joint and independent patient reviews, participating in multidisciplinary meetings, and providing clinical supervision for trainees. The position entails a 10 Programmed Activities (PA) structure, with some flexibility to accommodate personal interests, alongside a consultant on-call duty every eighth week.

The role offers the opportunity to contribute to the coordination of end-of-life care, with involvement in weekly and bi-weekly ward rounds, administrative duties, and additional professional activities focused on audit and governance. The post holder will have shared care responsibilities for up to 14 hospice inpatient beds and will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to ensure high-quality medical service for patients with specialist palliative care needs.
