The role offers a salary range of £105,504 to £139,882, based on seniority and experience, under the new Consultant contract. The psychiatrist will provide expert medical advice, supervise trainees, engage in psychiatric teaching and academic meetings, and play a key role in service development and patient care coordination. The position requires a commitment to delivering high-quality care to patients during critical moments of their mental health challenges.
We are looking for an outstanding Consultant Psychiatrist who has dual accreditation in Liaison Psychiatry and Older Adults or who has proven experience in OPMH either as a senior grade doctor or as part of a training programme, to join our Psychiatric Liaison Team full time.
The successful applicant will join an established psychiatric liaison team at Derriford. The team was formed by the amalgamation of an older adult and working age team in 2. The liaison practitioners work across the age range from 18 upwards. In addition the Safeguarding Adults team, Alcohol Liaison nurse, Frailty Nurse (Cornwall Partnership Trust) and Liaison Learning Disability and Autism Team are co-located within the base.
Appointment will be to the new Consultant contract, salary range pro rata £105,504 to £139,882 for ten Programmed Activities (PAs), dependent on Seniority and Thresholds, subject to negotiation of the agreed job plan.
Enjoying the fast paced nature of an all age Liaison Psychiatry team, you will be enthusiastic, professional and committed to providing the very best care for patients who often present themselves at the most critical stage of their illness. You will provide sound medical advice with ease to the internal team and also to colleagues in primary care.
As an experienced consultant, you will possess the skills and knowledge to supervise the foundation, GP and psychiatry trainees assigned to the department (you will receive protected time to do this). You will also have the opportunity to take part in psychiatric teaching and also in other academic meetings. You will be at the forefront of decisions regarding service provision, development and delivery and you will be at the heart of decision making with regards to risk and coordination of pathways for your patients.
