Your main role will involve visiting schools alongside the immunisation team each day to support them in vaccinating children against diseases such as HPV, Diphtheria, Tetanus, Polio, Meningitis, and Measles. From September to December, you'll also assist in administering the flu vaccine to children in both primary and secondary schools.
You'll need to vaccinate children efficiently, typically 12-25 per hour, depending on the vaccination programme. Working well as part of a team and collaborating with your colleagues is essential. You'll also be responsible for carrying out Gillick Competency Assessments with secondary-aged pupils and participating in clinical supervision and audits as required.

You'll be:
Key Accountabilities:
Travel to various sites as needed, working within a small team of vaccinators.
Administer vaccinations efficiently to meet VUK's hourly vaccination targets, ensuring timely vaccination of school children. This will include IM and nasal vaccinations, so must be proficient in administering IM injections.
Undertake clinical triage of consent forms and contact parents/guardians as needed before or after clinical sessions.
Address clinical enquiries from parents/guardians and VUK staff within the scope of your knowledge.
Perform fridge checks, and manage vaccine stock rotation.
Transport vaccines to and from sessions as required.
Participate in clinical supervision and contribute to staff performance and development.
Report, monitor, and process all clinical incidents and near misses in accordance with organisational policies and procedures.
Ensure all safeguarding concerns are promptly reported and thoroughly followed up.
Participate in audits as required by the Clinical Lead.
Undertake health promotion activities as required by the Clinical Lead.
Conduct Gillick Competency Assessments and obtain verbal consent from parents and caregivers via phone, both at vaccination sessions and from the office base.
Maintain a professional demeanour as the representative of Vaccination UK when attending schools.
Perform other duties appropriate to the role.

Qualifications:
Nurses and Midwives currently registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC)
Experience / Knowledge:
Evidence of ongoing professional development.
Working within PGD frameworks.
Proficiency in administering IM injections
Understands and implements the principles of informed consent.
Computer literate.
Cold chain, ordering, and arranging transport.
