The role of Senior Adult Safeguarding Practitioner at East Kent Hospitals University NHS Foundation Trust in Margate involves supporting the Named Nurse for Safeguarding and the Mental Capacity Act (MCA) Lead within the Safeguarding All Age team. The key responsibilities include providing specialist advice to staff across various disciplines, delivering training on adult protection and mental capacity issues, and supporting staff in adult safeguarding cases. The practitioner will be expected to collaborate with external agencies, lead safeguarding training, and facilitate effective communication and advocacy for vulnerable adults and their families.

This position also entails participating in strategy meetings, court proceedings, and providing guidance on safeguarding responsibilities throughout the Trust. The role emphasises the importance of promoting personalized care, sharing best practices, and enhancing awareness of safeguarding issues, including the findings from Safeguarding Adult and Domestic Homicide reviews. The Senior Practitioner will engage in audits, support internal investigations, and maintain databases related to safeguarding cases, all while fostering a culture of understanding and responsibility among health professionals regarding the safeguarding of vulnerable adults.
