As a Staff Nurse you will provide clinical and professional leadership, supervision and support to patients, and students within the SMART team.
You will triage, assess, plan and implement the care of patients who are discharged home under the care of the SMART service in the community, review and give care to SMART patients attending SDEC/ Hot clinic for review, administer IV treatments, wound care, drain management and conduct virtual visits using our remote patient monitoring pathways.
Members of SMART work autonomously, therefore we are looking for someone who is willing to lone work. Specific training will be provided to facilitate the pathways covered by SMART in-house as well as the community. Confidence, good communication skills and the ability to make sound decisions is also vital.

The SMART Service is nurse led, therefore the ability to work autonomously as well as effectively within a team is essential. The work will include visiting patient in the community therefore it is essential that you have a full UK driving license and a car.
The Staff Nurse must also be able to liaise with all members of the multidisciplinary team to coordinate safe effective and timely care practices within the SMART service.
The Staff Nurse must also be able to care for OPAT (Outpatient parenteral antibiotic therapy) and post-operative patients. Full support and training will be provided to be able to support these patients safely.
As a SMART nurse teaching, auditing, infection control practices and undergoing research are activities undertaken within the role.
To apply you should be competent in cannulation, venepuncture, general surgical wound care, drain care. The service prides itself of being innovative, so an added vast expertise is welcomed. We are always very keen to expand the service further so any new ideas are welcomed.
You should also have access to a car and be able to drive to visit patients at home when required.
