We currently have a vacancy for a dynamic, motivated administrator to work in the busy Cardiology Research Department within the new
Barts Heart Centre.
We are the biggest cardiovascular centre in Europe and have a growing portfolio of interventional research for cardiac patients. The post is for a one year fixed term contract position in the first instance with possibility of extension.
The primary responsibility for this post holder is support the delivery of our research portfolio as well as to assist with the every day tasks of the department. The post holder will be based within the cardiology research department at the Barts Heart centre. You might be required to cover multiple sites within the trust.
You will be an enthusiastic individual who is willing to learn an array of new skills and is passionate about research and patient care, with a background in administration within the healthcare setting. You must demonstrate organisational, interpersonal and communication skills, be computer literate, flexible and be able to manage your own time effectively. Excellent time management and IT skills are essential to the role.
The post holder will be expected to provide a full administrative support within the research team; and, as such, have a working knowledge of all studies within the department, with focus on supporting the department's administrative needs, study protocol and patient flow. The role will include the registration of new patients for the service, handling queries (e.g. from patients and GPs), arranging appointments/correspondence and supporting the team to make the flow of the patients' pathway as smooth as possible. Main duties will be maintaining files (both paper and electronic) as well as ensuring each step of the patient's pathway is accurately documented in the appropriate data capture systems in a timely manner. The role will also involve coordination R&D applications and maintenance of database of trial activity. The post holder will support the activities of Research Delivery Managers to assist with the implementation and conduct of trials and maintenance of high quality work and training.
