Children and Young People’s Wellbeing Practitioner with East London NHS Foundation Trust in London
This post is within Newham CAMHS which is a large and vibrant specialist child and adolescent mental health service with a reputation for innovation and flexibility in meeting the complex mental health support needs of Newham's children, young people and families. It is centrally located on one site in Plaistow, Newham, and provides an extensive and growing range of services including multi-disciplinary specialist teams such as the Emotional & Behavioural Teams, Adolescent Mental Health Team, Paediatric Liaison Team, Neurodevelopmental Team, Looked After Children Team and Social Care/Families First Team. There is a broad spectrum of disciplines (approximately 80 whole time equivalent clinical staff) and a long tradition of effective multidisciplinary and interagency working. The CWP role is to provide support in the Triage and management of families waiting for treatment with our waiting list team E&B3 and also our Front Door Team with referrals. This will also involve delivery of both individual and group interventions for young people and parents under the supervision of a suitably qualified senior clinician. The applicant we be an experienced CWP who can supervise junior CWP staff and CWP trainees. About us 1. Clinical Responsibilities 1.1. To provide screening and contribute to mental health assessments of clients referred to CAMHS. The assessment role requires the appropriate use, interpretation and integration of data from a variety of sources including self-report measures, rating scales, direct and indirect structured observations and semi-structured interviews with clients, family members and others involved in the clients care. 1.2. To formulate and deliver, under supervision outcome focused, evidence-based individual & group interventions to children and young people experiencing mental health difficulties and their parents. This work may be face to face, telephone or via other media. 1.3. To plan, develop and deliver programmes designed to support and compliment the work of CAMHS practitioners in order to support the emotional needs of young people as part of the overall CAMHS treatment plan. 1.4. Provide information and support to children, YP and their parents to access appropriate further help and resources if required. To support the development of evidence-based resources for families referred and attending the service. 1.5. To use and promote the use of routine outcome measures including session by session monitoring in line with CYP IAPT practice. To work in partnership with children, young people and families in the development of goals for interventions and agreed outcomes. 1.6. To undertake assessment of risk assessment to self and others.
