We are looking for well-motivated, enthusiastic individual to join our team as an Associate Practitioner within Medical Biochemistry and Immunology.
The successful candidate will work supporting Scientific Staff in the preparation and analysis of samples in the Medical Biochemistry and Immunology Department in addition to supprting the department in the testing of its Information Technology systems when upgrades and changes are introduced
The department offers one of the largest Clinical Chemistry and Immunology repertoires in the UK, and hosts the Wales Newborn Blood spot Screening Service, and Antenatal Screening Services.The department actively encourages participation in CPD to develop skills that will assist you in the pursuit of your career ambitions and generally is willing to support appropriate study arrangements/leave including participation in HCPC Certificate of Competence tutorials.
To contribute to providing a professional clinical laboratory service by working in the Medical Biochemistry Immunology and Toxicology and undertaking duties to support Scientific Staff in the preparation and analysis of samples of biological samples. This will be achieved by carrying out clinical, technical or scientific tasks under supervision/ direction using a wide range of practical and theoretical knowledge following written Laboratory Procedures and taking responsibility for completion of tasks and areas that have been assigned to the post holder.
To assist in training and development of Associate Practitioners and Medical Laboratory assistants
To provide a quality analytical service Medical Biochemistry Immunology and Toxicology, while working as part of a team undertaking analysis of biological samples.
Part of the role is to support department in the testing of Information technology (IT) solutions being updated.
The testing would include:
Testing all current tests/sets end to end - this is from request to instrument to each reporting system
Testing all changes as they occur
Liaise with DHCW for any potential changes we may not be aware may affect our reporting
This includes the current test sets and future changes.
