Tees, Esk and Wear Valleys NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Band 6 Specialist Speech and Language Therapist to support adults with learning disabilities in South Durham. The role involves assessing and treating communication challenges as well as eating, drinking, and swallowing difficulties among service users, with potential coverage extending to Darlington and Teesside based on service needs. The therapist will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, including other health professionals, and will supervise SLT associate practitioners, focusing on delivering high-quality, evidence-based interventions.

The ideal candidate will possess a degree in Speech and Language Therapy, along with experience working with adults facing learning disabilities, mental health difficulties, or complex needs. Familiarity with national directives related to the role and competence in dysphagia management is preferred. The position offers a supportive environment with peer supervision and continuous professional development opportunities, potentially including occasional work in other Trust areas, such as inpatient units.
