The role of Consultant Psychiatrist in Perinatal Psychiatry at Cambridgeshire and Peterborough NHS Foundation Trust involves clinical leadership of the North Perinatal Mental Health Team, primarily based in Peterborough with clinics in Huntingdon and Wisbech. Two consultants will collaborate to provide assessment, treatment, and advice for perinatal patients facing severe and complex mental health conditions, ensuring close cooperation with local maternity services and other health professionals. A significant aspect of the role includes fostering relationships with Mother and Baby Units and leading the team in delivering evidence-based care while maintaining oversight of patient records and coordinating mental health assessments.

In addition to direct clinical responsibilities, the post holder is expected to mentor junior medical staff and contribute to training programs, emphasizing a multidisciplinary approach to care. The position requires maintaining essential professional statuses, engaging with legislative frameworks, and participating actively in team meetings and stakeholder partnerships. The Perinatal Mental Health Team is expanding in response to local needs, emphasizing collaboration amongst various health and social service providers to promote integrated, effective treatment for families in the community.
