William Hopwood Surgery is seeking a dedicated and experienced Healthcare Assistant to join their team on a part-time basis in Blackburn. The successful candidate will support both primary and secondary care by performing a variety of healthcare tasks, including phlebotomy, urinalysis, blood pressure monitoring, and assisting with chronic disease reviews, such as those for diabetes and asthma. Additional responsibilities encompass conducting NHS health checks, administering immunisations, maintaining stock levels in GP rooms, and offering smoking cessation advice, all while ensuring that the highest standards of cleanliness and health and safety are adhered to.

The role involves collaboration with the nursing team to promote patient education and self-management, as well as precise documentation of patient records and support for doctors during their clinics. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a commitment to patient welfare and safety, with opportunities for further training available to enhance their skills in areas of interest.

William Hopwood Surgery is looking to recruit an experienced Healthcare Assistant to join our friendly team. We are looking for a highly motivated/ enthusiastic individual with experience of working in primary or secondary care to work alongside and support the existing team. The job role is a part time position.

The main duties of the role include:

- Phlebotomy

- Urinalysis

- Blood pressure recording

- Assist with chronic disease reviews such as Diabetes, Asthma, COPD

- Carrying out NHS health checks, Frailty assessments

- Ensuring all GP rooms are fully stocked

- Smoking cessation advice

- Immunisations (Flu, B12 injections)

- Educate patients about their health and wellbeing so that they can develop their knowledge and understanding empowering them to be as self-managing as possible.

- Opportunistically record QOF related information within skill set

You will work alongside the existing nursing team to ensure:

Stock levels are maintained by ordering, rotation and sorting deliveries. Identifying the best places to purchase stocks and dealing with suppliers.

Completion of cleanliness, infection prevention control measures and health and safety requirement of the role.

Doctors are supported in their clinics.

Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all patients.
