The Head of Health and Safety at South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust is a pivotal leadership position responsible for ensuring compliance and safety across the organisation. Reporting within the Clinical Directorate, the successful candidate will lead the Health and Safety team in developing and implementing Trust-wide strategies, policies, and management systems in alignment with statutory responsibilities, including the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974. Key duties involve assessing non-clinical hazards, managing risk mitigation strategies, conducting audits, and providing assurance on health and safety matters to the Board.

The role requires collaboration with various clinical and non-clinical groups, including senior management and Trade Union representatives, to foster a culture of safety and enhance working practices. The Head of Health and Safety will also analyze safety records and reports to identify opportunities for improvement and ensure that health and safety considerations are embedded within the organisation's operational framework.
