The Senior Matron for Emergency and Acute Medicine at Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust will lead and manage nursing services across various units, including the Emergency Department and Acute Medical admissions. This role involves collaborating with key leadership figures to enhance staff experience, operational efficiency, and patient care quality, while ensuring compliance with nursing standards and governance. The Senior Matron will also oversee the performance of the nursing staff, drive initiatives for quality improvement, manage complaints and risk assessments, and promote a culture of safety and excellent service provision.

In this role, the Senior Matron will offer clinical and professional leadership, support the development of nursing and midwifery practices, and ensure that the nursing workforce is effective and well-supported. Responsibilities include holding staff accountable for performance, implementing quality monitoring programs, and serving as a visible and accessible leader within the clinical environment.
