The Royal Orthopaedic Hospital NHS Foundation Trust in Birmingham is looking to appoint a Consultant Hand Surgeon to join its Small Joints team, which consists of six other hand surgeons. The successful candidate will focus on treating elective hand conditions and is expected to have a strong foundation in elective hand surgery. There is also an opportunity for further specialisation within the department, which operates with a multidisciplinary approach, collaborating closely with the hand therapy team and other surgical colleagues. The post does not involve pediatric cases, and flexibility in working hours is available.

The job plan comprises 10 programmed activities (PAs) including twice-weekly elective hand surgery theatre lists, clinics, and dedicated time for administration and professional development. The new consultant will participate in a structured 12-month mentorship program to aid their integration into the team. Interested applicants must have completed orthopaedic or plastic surgical training and be either undertaking or have completed a Fellowship in Hand Surgery.

More about the NHS
The National Health Service (NHS) is a cornerstone of healthcare in the United Kingdom, established in 1948 with the simple yet profound principle of providing healthcare to all citizens, free at the point of use. This revolutionary system aimed to ensure that access to medical services would not depend on an individual’s financial situation, a concept that has since become fundamental to British societal values.Learn more...
