The Senior Health Care Support Worker (SHCSW) position at University Hospitals Plymouth NHS Trust involves joining a dynamic 31-bed colorectal, HPB, and OG surgical ward team. This role is integral to the multidisciplinary team, providing direct patient care and supporting Registered Practitioners in delivering high-quality and compassionate healthcare. Candidates should possess good communication skills, with previous health care experience being advantageous but not essential. Preference will be given to internal staff and those with relevant NHS experience.

As an SHCSW, responsibilities include obtaining patient consent, performing delegated clinical tasks under supervision, and participating in patient assessments. The role demands the ability to undertake clinical duties independently, such as monitoring vital signs and collecting specimens, while maintaining high standards of patient care and adhering to infection control and safety policies. The Trust offers opportunities for professional development and training specific to the role, including support for obtaining a Care Certificate if required.
