Mersey Care NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Nurse Practitioner Therapist for a unique role within an innovative prison-based assessment and treatment service located at HMP Garth in Leyland, Lancashire. This position focuses on providing specialized therapeutic interventions tailored for residents with personality-related needs, utilizing a psychologically led service model based on Professor John Livesley’s framework. The role involves delivering both individual and group therapies within a therapeutic environment that emphasises attachment, trauma, and systemic approaches, while also conducting comprehensive risk assessments.

Candidates should be registered mental health nurses with advanced training in psychological therapies such as Cognitive Analytic Therapy (CAT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), or Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR). Experience working with complex clinical cases in institutional settings and as part of a multi-disciplinary team is essential, particularly in engaging clients who may exhibit characteristics of personality disorders.
