We are looking to recruit an innovative and enthusiastic occupational therapist to join the surgical and orthopaedic therapy team. We require a highly specialised Occupational Therapist, with previous experience working in the areas of orthopaedics, plastics and general surgery, providing intervention to patients experiencing a wide range of conditions, whose needs are often challenging and complex.

The post holder will carry a varied caseload of elective orthopaedic and surgical patients, including patients having undergone surgical management of oncological diagnoses under Plastics, Urology, ENT and General Surgery at Charing Cross Hospital. The successful applicant will also be responsible for managing inpatient referrals, and overseeing the day to day work load, supervision and appraisal of junior staff. They will also work closely supporting the service lead in improving efficiencies and developing services.

  • As a Specialist Occupational Therapist the post holder will be responsible for performing advanced assessment of patients with diverse presentations and complex medical, physical and psychological conditions, to develop and deliver an individualised management/treatment programme.
  • Following assessment the post holder will be responsible for making therapeutic and/or clinical diagnoses and treating their own caseload of specialised and complex patients/clients and maintaining associated records.
  • The post holder may lead a team and be responsible for providing an advanced standard of care to patients at Imperial College NHS Healthcare Trust, which covers a multi-cultural and diverse population.
  • The post holder will supervise the work of other more junior staff and support workers.
  • The post holder may be rotational and will be expected to work across our hospital sites as needed.
  • The post holder will assist the Clinical Lead in contributing to the planning, coordination, development and evaluation of the service.
  • Together with other senior staff, you will act as a resource of specialist advice to the rest of the therapy service and other professions.
