We are looking for candidates ideally with stem cell apheresis experience to recruit to a band 6 fixed term/secondment.
This is a rare opportunity for a professional Nurse to join the Welsh Bone Marrow Donor Registry (WBMDR) and work in the rapidly expanding field of cellular therapies. Each year we facilitate the provision of cellular therapy products to patients in the UK and overseas. Cellular therapies have become a curative measure for blood cancer and haematological disorders. Your role within the WBMDR will directly contribute to saving and improving peoples' lives.
The WBMDR manages a number of collection centres and you will be required to actively participate in the collection procedures for PBSC apheresis and bone marrow via needle aspiration. Experience is stem cell collection via apheresis is highly desirable. You will:
Onsite secure parking for all staff.
Work closely with transplant physicians to co-ordinate the collection and provision of therapeutic cellular products from donors within other stem cell registries nationally and internationally.
Responsible for the taking legal informed consent from the donor at medical evaluation and for the collection procedure.
Responsible for carrying out stem cell/lymphocyte apheresis collections at the Velindre Cancer Centre.
Responsible for all aspects of donor management pre, during and post donation including donor health assessment and post donation assessment.
Maintaining and Improving Clinical Standards

Adhere to the NMC Code of Conduct
This post is fixed term/secondment for 12 months due to meet the needs of the service. If you are interested in applying for the secondment position, you must obtain permission from your current line manager prior to applying for this post.
