Occupational Therapist Neuro Rehabilitation

We are excited to offer a full time position with our Occupational Therapy Team for Specialist Neuro Rehabilitation based in the new Llandough Centre for Specialist Spinal and Neuro Rehabilitation, University Hospital Llandough. The Specialist Neuro Rehabilitation Unit provides specialist assessment and rehabilitation for service users with highly complex neurological impairment including PDOC (Prolonged Disorders of Consciousness).

As a member of the multi-professional team you will work with service users with complex physical, psychological and cognitive needs, delivering neuro specialist assessments and interventions as part of an individualised rehabilitation programme, including complex seating and postural management, cognition and sensory awareness, upper limb management plus opportunity to work with service users in PDOC. You will work closely with service users' carers and families in regard to education and training. You will act as a keyworker and training will be provided for this. You will engage in complex regional discharge planning including multiagency communication, facilitate environmental assessment/recommendation and advise ongoing care need.

Experience of complex disability management, postural assessment/ seating/wheelchair provision, upper limb management/splinting, cognition, complex discharge planning/repatriation would support this role. We wish to appoint an enthusiastic and highly motivated suitably skilled individual with excellent communication skills, effective teamworking and an interest in service improvement. We are in the process of developing the learning opportunities within this role, including potential to work in other areas of the neuro pathway to increase your specialist skills.
