Symphony Healthcare Services Limited is seeking a skilled Healthcare Assistant for Martock and South Petherton Surgeries, offering a permanent, part-time position at 30 hours per week with a pay rate of £12.25 per hour plus NHS or NEST pension benefits. The ideal candidate will have prior experience in primary care and proficiency in various healthcare tasks, alongside strong communication skills and self-organisation abilities.

Primary responsibilities include conducting health checks, monitoring vital signs, performing phlebotomy, administering vaccinations, assisting with medical procedures, and promoting health and well-being. The Healthcare Assistant will also manage laboratory samples, maintain clinical environments, and provide lifestyle advice while assisting with data collection related to patient health needs.

Martock and South Petherton Surgeries are looking for an experienced Healthcare Assistant to join their team on a permanent basis. This role is for 30 hours per week.
Pay rate is £12.25 per hour, with an NHS or NEST pension offered.
You will have experience of working in primary care and be competent in healthcare duties. Candidates should possess excellent communication skills and an ability to organise their own time and workload.
Working under the direct supervision of the Lead / Practice Nurse and strictly in accordance with specific practice guidelines and protocols, the Healthcare Assistant will assist the practice clinical team in the provision and delivery of prescribed programmes of patient care.

Main duties and responsibilities include:
- New patient health checks - BMI, Urinalysis
- ECG recording
- INR monitoring using Coagucheck and INR Star
- To undertake Doppler testing
- Blood Pressure Monitoring following practice hypertension guidelines, issue HBPM in accordance with practice policy
- Phlebotomy including perform annual blood tests, BP, BMI, ACR as requested for patients with chronic diseases
- Urinalysis MSU, ACR in accordance with practice policy
- Wound Care suture removal in accordance with practice policy, following training
- Weight Management
- Chaperoning duties
- Processing and management of laboratory samples requested by GPs/Nurses
- Administer influenza vaccines according to PSD, following training
- Administer B12 injections according to PSD
- To undertake Spirometry for GP to interpret results.
- Surgical equipment and vaccine re-stocking and stock rotation
- Clearing and re-stocking consulting rooms
- Preparing and maintaining environments and equipment before, during and after patient care interventions including assisting GPs during the performance of minor operations, coils and implants
- Assisting in the assessment and surveillance of patients health and well-being
- Help to raise awareness of health and well-being and how it can be promoted
- Assisting with the collection and collation of data on needs related to health and well-being
- Assist with recall systems
- Lifestyle advice, (diet, weight, exercise, smoking cessation, alcohol) making necessary referrals within PHCT and local support services
- Maintain health promotion information in waiting room designated for patient education
