About us
The post-holder will be responsible for providing comprehensive clinical management for critically ill patients in the Critical Care Unit and beyond. The Unit has 36 beds and delivers general, trauma and neuro-critical care for the local population and referred patients for tertiary services. The Unit treats around 1400 patients per annum. UHNM is a Major Trauma Centre with all major specialities except Burns and solid organ transplant under one roof including paediatric intensive care. The successful candidate will join a pro-active team developing a programme of work to transform critical care into a centre of excellence. We have specific interests in rehabilitation- early in the care pathway of our patients and Neuro-trauma. However, we would welcome candidates with other interests.
The appointed candidate will work with daytime duties in critical care and a base specialty if they have a subspecialty. The Consultant role requires interaction across multiple disciplines and collaborative working. The expectation of the role is that the appointed candidate has the ability to offer expert clinical opinion on a range of problems, both emergency and elective within ICM specialty. On call responsibilities will be shared and undertaken as part of programmed activities.
