Senior Staff Nurse on the acute medical unit (AMU) , fixed term post of 25 hours per week available.
The Registered Band 6 Senior Staff Nurse working on AMU will be expected to deliver high standards of quality care.
Effective coordination of AMU and those attending for assessment under the care of the medical teams. Provision of a good quality of safe care for patients and their significant others. Assessment, planning and evaluation of care within the remit of the service, ensuring safe and appropriate patient placement and the achievement of related Trust targets. Provision of a proactive learning environment for all grades of staff and students.
You will be responsible for taking regular charge of the unit, acting up in absence of the deputy ward manager & ward manager.
The role will consist of 12 hrs shifts: both day and night shift working.
The post holder will assist in the implementation and delivery of a first class service, providing the highest standards of nursing care to patients. They should have experience at band 5 within an acute medical setting or senior nurse experience in the NHS and must be able to work autonomously as well as part of a team. They must be a mentor or working towards that qualification. They must be able to work a flexible rota as it is expected that a band 6 will cover 24 hours per day, seven days a week.
The post holder will be responsible for overseeing the smooth running of the unit whilst ensuring patient safety is the highest priority. They will liaise directly with the emergency department and the site coordination team. The post will involve the supervision and mentoring of junior staff. The post holder will not be responsible for the budget but needs an awareness of the resources available and the need to remain within the financial constraints.
