The Shoulder and Elbow Locum Consultant role at Great Western Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust involves joining an established Trauma & Orthopaedics department with a team of seventeen consultants. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality patient care, including participation in a multidisciplinary team, providing evidence-based treatment, conducting both new patient and follow-up clinics, and managing trauma operating lists. The position also requires involvement in teaching and supervision of junior staff, as well as contributions to clinical audits and educational activities.

In addition to clinical responsibilities, the consultant will play a leadership role within the Division, aiding in policy and strategy development, effective resource management, and ensuring adherence to clinical governance and risk management practices. The role includes commitments to on-call duties, involvement in regional trauma networks, and maintaining a general trauma skill set. The Trust emphasises staff wellbeing, providing support systems to promote a healthy work environment.
