The East Suffolk and North Essex NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a dynamic Medical Secretary to provide secretarial support to the nursing team within the Colorectal department in Ipswich. This role is essential in a busy environment, requiring collaboration with medical teams, nursing staff, and outpatient facilities to deliver high-quality administrative care to patients. The position is a fixed-term or secondment role of 37.5 hours per week, lasting until November 28, 2025.

Candidates must demonstrate attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and the ability to prioritize tasks effectively. The Medical Secretary will be responsible for managing the department's administrative needs and ensuring compliance with patient pathway timelines and Referral to Treatment targets. A flexible approach to workload and working patterns is necessary to support the team in this patient-focused setting.

We are looking for dynamic and enthusiastic team players to provide secretarial support to the nursing team within the Colorectal department as a Medical Secretary.

This is a key role in a busy department that works closely with the Medical Teams, Nursing Team, Outpatients Department, the endoscopy unit and the wider hospital teams.

You will be part of a friendly patient focussed team, delivering high quality administrative care to patients referred to the Colorectal team in Ipswich.

We currently have an additional Fixed Term/Secondment Post available - 37.5 hours per week until the 28th November 2025.

You will be responsible for ensuring that the administration needs of the department are completed in a timely way.

You will ensure that timeframes are met for the management of patient pathways in accordance with Referral to Treatment targets.

You will support team members by having a flexible approach to both workload, additional tasks and working patterns.

For this post you will require attention to detail as well as excellent communication skills and the ability to prioritise and plan.
