The role of Band 8a Lead Respiratory Specialist Nurse/AHP at Barking, Havering and Redbridge University Hospitals NHS Trust in Ilford involves providing clinical leadership for the Respiratory Specialist nursing teams, with a focus on managing patients with chronic respiratory conditions like COPD, asthma, and sleep apnea. The post holder will be responsible for developing, implementing, and evaluating care pathways, overseeing team management including recruitment and appraisals, and ensuring compliance with organisational and regulatory standards related to patient care and safety.

In this position, the Lead Nurse will collaborate with Respiratory Physicians and multidisciplinary teams to enhance patient care and will play a key role in assessing and monitoring patients with specific respiratory needs, particularly those requiring domiciliary NIV. The department emphasises a multidisciplinary approach to delivering high-quality care both in inpatient and outpatient settings, driving continuous improvement in clinical outcomes and patient satisfaction.
