The Charge Nurse role at Leeds and York Partnership NHS Foundation Trust involves supporting the Clinical Team Manager in overseeing the performance and capabilities of the clinical team, ensuring adherence to policies and care standards. As a professional role model, the Charge Nurse is responsible for delivering high-quality patient care, providing leadership, guidance, and training to junior staff, and promoting a client-centred approach throughout the unit. The position requires strong judgement and advanced skills in de-escalation, particularly in challenging situations, while actively participating in the development of clinical practices and fostering a culture of feedback and continuous improvement among team members.

In this leadership role, the Charge Nurse will also coordinate care planning, monitor the practice standards of the team, and develop treatment plans for defined Service Users. They are expected to engage effectively with a multi-disciplinary team, encourage Service User involvement in their care, and ensure compliance with relevant policies. The Charge Nurse will take responsibility for the education and development of staff through supervision and involvement in training programs, while maintaining adherence to professional standards and ensuring the clinical environment is safe and conducive to patient care.
