It may not be suitable for every role, but we will try and be supportive where we can. We would encourage you to speak to the recruiting manager named within this advert to discuss any requirements you may have.

Armed Forces Friendly Employer

COVID-19 Vaccination Requirements

Our Trust continues to strongly encourage our staff to be vaccinated against COVID19, this remains our best defence to protect our patients, ourselves and everyone else.

We are looking to expand our friendly team and are looking for someone with recent secretarial experience to join the Elderly Services Team at York Hospital. You will provide support to the Medical Secretary and the Elderly Consultants.

Excellent administration/secretarial skills and audio-typing qualifications are vital, as well as a good understanding of customer relations. You will be required to deal with queries from patients, Consultants and GPs.

We look forward to receiving your application!

Please note the working days will be Thursday and Friday.

Previous applicants need not apply.

You will be responsible for typing clinical and administrative letters, booking in both urgent and follow up appointments, answering telephone enquiries and dealing with patient queries, as well as covering the Medical Secretary during periods of absence.

The successful candidate will be required to have good organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise the demands of an extremely busy office and manage their time and workload effectively.

They will also be required to work unsupervised and communicate with Consultants on a regular basis. Audio-typing qualifications are essential and a knowledge of medical terminology would be an advantage.
