The Highly Specialist Clinical Psychologist role at Mersey Care NHS Foundation Trust involves delivering a qualified clinical psychology service within the Autism Service framework. The psychologist will carry out psychological assessments and therapy for autistic service users, some of whom may have complex mental health histories, and provide consultation and support to colleagues in developing care plans. The role emphasises the use of research skills for audits and service development, as well as the ability to make evidence-based decisions across various care settings.

Key responsibilities include conducting comprehensive assessments using diverse data sources, implementing tailored interventions for clients, families, and groups, and providing specialist advice to other professionals regarding treatment options. The psychologist will actively engage in risk assessment and management, ensuring effective communication and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams, and may also hold line management responsibilities for other clinical staff. Candidates with a Band 7 Preceptorship will also be considered for the role.
