We're looking for a Senior Medical Gas Technician to join our Estates Team at Sheffield Teaching Hospitals Central Campus.
Estates plays a crucial role in keeping our hospitals and services running. From essential power, heating, plumbing and mechanical systems, to the inside and outside of our buildings and grounds, Estates staff make sure these are safe and well-maintained for our patients, visitors, and other staff.
Our staff have a wide range of expertise and skills - from construction trades and technical skills, building and site management, surveying, and more. Together they carry out vital inspections, maintenance, and repairs across our sites, so that we can keep giving excellent care to our patients.
This is a hands-on role where you'll be responsible for the day-to-day management, administration, and workload of various operational and reactive engineering staff within Estates. You'll also manage and supervise external engineering contractors, to ensure works are completed on time and to agreed standards.
You'll need to be highly experienced within your trade, as well as have the management, people and communication skills needed to lead an effective team.

Carry out the full range of maintenance duties specific to their core trade as required, including non-routine, planned, corrective and breakdown maintenance tasks,
Responsible for developing task lists - including carrying out regular audits.
To be actively involved in the Trust wide Steering Groups and be responsible for ensuring that it is understood and implemented.
Undertake regular Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) and testing of Medical Gas systems. Record and analyse results with reference to historical data and determine appropriate actions. Provide condition and non-compliance reports as necessary.
Responsible for the witness testing of new systems, plant and equipment installed on Trust property. Reconfirm correct operation on a regular basis and provide cascade training to Estates staff and users.
For on-call duty you must be able to attend site at any time out of normal working hours during your on-call week (approximately one week in eight). You will be required to carry a Trust mobile phone for this purpose. You will work under your own initiative with the freedom to make decisions.
