The role is based at the University Hospital of North Durham and includes an on-call commitment alongside regular duties in Intensive Care Medicine. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to explore additional specialties such as Anaesthesia and Emergency Medicine, with support from the department to develop their areas of expertise.
The successful applicant will spend the majority of their job planned time working within the Intensive Care Unit.
We currently work fixed half week blocks; Monday Tuesday Wednesday, or Wednesday, Thursday Friday, on a rolling 4 week cycle.In addition to this will be an on call commitment.
The standard day will consist of a multi disciplinary ward round, followed by clinical work, teaching and administrative duties as dictated by the clinical tempo.
We have standard Respiratory and CardioVascular support and Renal support via CVVH/D. We are keen advocates of Trans Thoracic Ultrasound.
Time may also be spent within an allied speciality for example Anaesthesia or Emergency Medicine, or working within the regional transfer service.
