This is an important role that supports delivery of essentialassurance, governance and statutory responsibilities of theFinance and Business Intelligence Directorate, particularly itsOperational Delivery functions. It is a varied role that will providethe postholder with opportunities to use a range of skills,knowledge and experience and will also provide opportunities fordevelopment and specialisation for those who want that.This role is responsible for providing comprehensive, effective andefficient day-to-day support to the FBI Directorate includingproviding informed and valuable business insight to ensureeffective operation of the directorate.You will provide support to ensure statutory responsibilities andNHS rules are met including mandatory data returns, reports,frameworks, and plans. You will provide support to managers ofspecific portfolios, projects, and work programmes. You will beresponsible for ensuring that information is processed inaccordance with policies and procedures. You may providesupport and training to end users of FBI services.

Understand systems, processes and procedures relevant to thedirectorate including finance, business functions such ascontracts and business partnering, and intelligence and dataanalysis, to enable you to provide informed and valuablebusiness insights to a range of stakeholders Provide support to systems, processes and proceduresPage 2 of 4relevant to the directorate including:o Support the directorate to meet statutory NHS financialresponsibilities and ruleso Support to develop and maintain finance computersystems and of other finance areaso Support to meet statutory NHS performance reportingand production of committee and board reportso Support to develop and maintain intelligence andportfolio analysis systems and other performance areas Ensure information is processed in accordance with policiesand procedures Investigate routine enquiries and queries from colleagues inFBI as well as clinical and corporate teams and provideassistance and advice as required Assist in the analysis and interpretation of intelligence anddata and provide training to end users Able to discuss complicated matters around performanceanalysis, intelligence and data in a simplified form to nonfinance/data people Investigate queries and analyse detailed data to identifyerrors and discrepancies Resolve business or data problems encountered by usersfrom a range of options Provide and receive routine information requiring tact orpersuasive skills Be able to discuss sensitive issues about performance e.g.missing KPIs, workforce performance or financial performance Understand the appropriate media to communicate findingsand shape communications relevant to the audience and theirneeds Define the context for your findings and give appropriaterecommendations Assist in the development of software, web pages, informationreports, and the installation or maintenance of hardware andsoftware as required. The post holder will have developed physical skills includingadvanced keyboard use where accuracy is important wheninputting, extracting and manipulating numerical data andinformation into computer databases and systems.
