The Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is seeking experienced Sonographers for their Trustwide position. Candidates must have expertise in performing and independently reporting a variety of ultrasound examinations, particularly in general medical ultrasound, with preferred experience in areas such as Gynaecology, small parts, paediatrics, vascular, or musculoskeletal ultrasound. A BSc in Diagnostic Radiography or equivalent, along with a relevant Post Graduate qualification and significant clinical experience in ultrasound, is required.
The role involves providing a high-quality ultrasound service across multiple sites (Royal Victoria Infirmary, Freeman Hospital, and community locations), working both independently and as part of a team. Flexibility in scheduling is necessary, including extended hours and weekend work. The Sonographer will also mentor Ultrasound students and registrars, prioritize clinical workload based on urgency, and assist in strategic service planning.
The position offers both full-time and part-time hours, and candidates are encouraged to discuss flexible working arrangements. Additional responsibilities such as Radiation Protection Supervisor or student mentor may be available. Successful candidates must cover the cost of a DBS check through a salary deduction. An interview date is set for January 8, 2025.

Must possess BSc Diagnostic Radiography or equivalent and an appropriate Post Graduate qualification in ultrasound with significant clinical ultrasound experience. Applicants should be able to scan / work independently but also as part of an integrated team.
Extended working days or weekend/ Bank Holiday work will be required.

- The post holders will participate in provision of a high quality ultrasound service for a wide range of referrers across all Trust ultrasound facilities, both in hospital and community based sites. They will assist in the training and mentoring of Ultrasound students and Registrars. Deliver a service that is focussed to the patients' needs and the needs of referring clinicians and other medical staff.
- Ultrasound examinations are undertaken at the Royal Victoria Infirmary, Freeman Hospital and Community sites, rotation to any of the sites will be required.
- Candidates should be flexible and able to adapt to the day to day workload, prioritising workload based on clinical urgency. Also assist management deliver the longer strategic planning and delivery of the service.
