This full-time position requires excellent organisational, interpersonal, and communication skills, with the ability to work both collaboratively and independently. Candidates should be receptive to new learning opportunities, including cannulation training if needed. The role supports a diverse range of examinations across inpatient, outpatient, and emergency departments, contributing to high-quality patient care in a leading NHS organisation. The post will involve extended service hours, including a rotation into other imaging modalities if necessary, and the Trust offers flexibility in working arrangements to meet the needs of both the service and staff.
Due to the expansion of the MRI units operating hours we are looking for highly motivated, enthusiastic MRI Radiographers with proven cross sectional experience to join our MRI teams at Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
Once fully trained, you will be expected to perform a wide range of complex MRI examinations on state of the art Siemens equipment. Working in a tertiary referral centre, you will develop skills in MSK, ENT, cardiac, gynae, breast, HPB and paediatrics MRI scanning. The Trust also houses the Great North Children's Hospital and the Great North Trauma and Emergency Centre.

- The Radiology directorate performs a wide range of examinations supporting out patients, in patients and emergency department in HPB, renal, MSK, ENT, oncology, cardiac, breast, gynaecology and vascular examinations using state of the art Siemens equipment. The trust is a tertiary NHS organisation, has a major trauma centre and boasts the great North Children's Hospital and therefore provides experience in a comprehensive range of MRI examinations in these specialist fields.
- The post are suited to qualified radiographers with an interest in MRI and cross sectional imaging. Proven experience in a broad range of MRI examinations & imaging techniques, including advanced techniques, MRI safety, good knowledge of cross sectional anatomy and pathology would be advantageous. Cannulation skills are a requirement for this post but not essential as training will be provided if required.
- Once fully trained, the post holder will take responsibility for producing images of a high standard, supervising and training junior staff, including radiography students. Excellent organisational, interpersonal and communication skills are required, with the ability to work effectively in a team or independently and be able to liaise with staff of any grade within and outside of the radiology directorate.

About us
This is full time post within the MRI unit although rotating into to another imaging modalities may be arranged. The MRI unit runs an extended seven day service in which you will be expected to participate.
This is an exciting opportunity for a Band 6 Radiographer wishing to extend their skills and expertise whilst working in a team-based environment.
You would be part of a team delivering a high quality efficient and effective radiographic service, to make an informed decision on the diagnostic images required and demonstrate a professional, caring and responsible approach to patients.
The post is based at either the Freeman or RVI site but with commitments to work within Radiology trust wide when required.
