The role of Senior Orthoptist at the Bristol Eye Hospital with University Hospitals Bristol and Weston NHS Foundation Trust involves joining a dedicated team of 14 Orthoptists, ideally suited for those with some post-graduation experience looking to expand their skills in a teaching hospital environment. The position includes both permanent and fixed-term options and requires the post holder to be an autonomous practitioner responsible for the assessment, diagnosis, and management of a diverse range of complex ophthalmic cases, including specialty clinics focused on paediatrics and neuro-ophthalmology.

Key responsibilities also include supervising Orthoptic students, engaging in clinical audits, and contributing to teaching efforts within the department. The role offers opportunities for professional development through a preceptorship and mentoring programme, and the department actively encourages research and continuing professional development. Candidates must possess a degree or diploma in Orthoptics, registration with the HCPC, and previous experience is desirable.
