- To provide efficient and comprehensive booking support within speciality and across the Surgery Division and cross cover for colleagues.

- To undergo training as necessary to meet the needs of new developments within the Service.

- To provide an efficient administration service to support the patient pathway.

- To work as a member of the team, ensuring provision of comprehensive and flexible patientadministration service. Liaise directly with the patients/carer to agree their admission date.

- To be responsible for managing and confirmation of booked admission dates with patients over thetelephone.

The post holder will:-- Provide efficient and comprehensive booking support within a speciality, and other specialities asand when required within the Surgery Division.- Ensure that you contribute to the department, operating to the higheststandards and that it not only meets but exceeds patient expectations.- Be responsible for ensuring that all duties are carried out in accordance with the correctprocedures and policies.- Ensure patients receive accurate admission information using the Patient Administration System(PAS), under the guidance of the Admin & Performance Co-Ordinator (APC).- Select patients for admission from the in turn waiting list and/or respond to consultant's requests.Identify and discuss any problems and initiate and communicate any actions that need to betaken.- Act as the first point of contact for waiting list enquiries from patients, GPs and other partiesproviding information within confidentiality and data protection guidelines.- Actively take part in weekly team meetings to ensure the department is flexible in its approach tochanging workloads.- Deal sensitively and effectively with telephone enquiries from patients, relatives and colleaguesensuring confidentiality is maintained at all times.- Manage the 18 week elective pathway and be proactive in reducing waiting times.- Liaise directly with the patients to agree their pre-assessment and admission dates.- Support workloads within the service unit and cover for colleagues in their absence.
