Vita Health Group is seeking enthusiastic individuals for the position of Trainee Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner (Trainee PWP) in Leicester, Loughborough, as part of their Talking Therapies service. In this role, trainees will receive training in Low Intensity Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) while working to support clients with common mental health issues like anxiety and depression. The position involves a combination of clinical practice and academic study at De Montfort University, with an expected start date of March 2025. Trainees will work primarily remotely, with some in-person clinic commitments and will receive supervision and support to foster their clinical development.

Candidates should possess an undergraduate degree or equivalent experience in a mental health setting and demonstrate strong interpersonal skills as well as a commitment to learning. The role offers a fixed-term contract during the training year, with potential for a permanent position upon completion. The Role

In this role, you will provide Low Intensity CBT-based interventions whilst undertaking the graduate/ post-graduate certificate in Low-Intensity Psychological Interventions delivered by De Montfort University commencing in March 2025 . This training post will equip you with the skills and knowledge to provide evidence-based treatment to clients with a range of common mental health problems such as anxiety and depression.

You will be joining a motivated team of mental health professionals and experienced supervisors who will support you to complete both your academic study and your clinical delivery.

This is a fixed term position whilst training is completed. Capacity will be reviewed at the end of the training year to see if a permanent PWP role can be offered.

A typical working week includes 3 days of clinical practice with the service and 2 days attending university, including one study day. University days will be hybrid training with a combination of remote and face-to-face teaching.

Your clinical practice will be predominantly remote working with you also having your own face-to-face clinic each week. The venue of your clinic will be located anywhere across Leicester, Leicestershire, and Rutland. You will also be required to attend our Loughborough office once a fortnight for clinical skills supervision.

Getting to know you

Essential:

Undergraduate degree OR evidence of previous successful study at Regulated Qualifications Framework Level 3 or above, along with the following:

For those with an undergraduate degree, we require at least 1 year paid or volunteer work in a mental health setting in a role directly supporting the mental health of others

For those with a level 3 or 4 qualification, we require at least 2 years paid or volunteer work in a mental health setting in a role directly supporting the mental health of others

Evidence of interpersonal skills to engage and develop working alliances with colleagues and patients

Evidence of an openness to learning new knowledge and skills

Ability to work under pressure

Excellent administrative and time management skills

An awareness of and commitment to supporting and facilitating diversity and inclusion

Desirable:

Knowledge and use of CBT techniques in the treatment of common mental health difficulties

Experience of telephone working

Other Requirements:

Applicants must submit a personal statement as part of their application, outlining the reasons for applying and summarising their relevant experience.

Please note:

Shortlisted applicants must be available to attend interviews held on either 3rd December, 5th December, 10th December, or 12th December. All interviews will be held remotely via Microsoft Teams.

Applicants must be available to commence the role in March 2025 . All essential equipment will be provided.

A Disclosure and Barring check (DBS, formerly CRB) will be required by the service for appointment to post.

Applicants who have completed an NHS-funded psychological professions training programme within the last two years are not eligible to apply. Please also be advised that if you are successful in the role, you would be unable to complete another NHSE funded course within 2 years of completing the certificate in Low-Intensity Psychological Interventions (for example, CBT training).

Only those with the right to work in the UK without restriction and eligible for Home Fee status can be recruited. These rules are set by the UK government and cannot be changed by individual universities or the NHS.

If you are successful in being offered a role and you decide to terminate your employment during or at the end of your course, training fees may need to be repaid.
