Occupational Therapist with The Rotherham NHS Foundation Trust in Rotherham, South Yorkshire
Part time 18.75 hours per week. We are looking to appoint a highly motivated static Occupational Therapist to join our dynamic and friendly Orthopaedic Inpatient Therapy team with suitable Orthopaedic experience. The Orthopaedic Inpatient Therapy team provides care across several clinical areas including the Orthopaedic Trauma Ward, Elective Orthopaedic ward, Paediatric ward, Day surgery and Fracture Clinic. The team cover a 7-day service with weekday late nights to support the Orthopaedic Enhanced Recovery Programme. This role requires assessment, treatment and management of a varied caseload of both trauma and elective patients in a busy Orthopaedic unit. This can include pre-operative assessment through to rehabilitation & discharge planning. Applicants must: Have a good knowledge and understanding of Orthopaedic conditions and management Have excellent team work skills Demonstrate good communication skills, including IT literacy Demonstrate good organisational skills Be able to use their initiative Be able to use a practical approach to problem solving Be committed to personal development Due to the nature of the role it is essential that applicants are able to travel independently across the county and have access to a suitable vehicle for business purposes. To provide assessment, diagnosis, triage and management / treatment of patients. To deliver programmes of supported patient rehabilitation, in ways that facilitate behavioural change, optimise individuals' physical activity, mobility, fulfilment of personal goals and independence. To support in managing caseload to meet service and patient/client priorities readjusting plans as situations change / arise, in consultation with senior team members where appropriate To provide intervention for patients / clients within The Rotherham Foundation Trust. To effectively use clinical reasoning skills to prioritise referrals, waiting lists and the provision of assistive technology / equipment within existing resources. To be clinically responsible for a designated caseload of patients and to organise this effectively and efficiently with regard to clinical priorities and use of time. To undertake a comprehensive assessment of patients using a range of recognised and highly specialised clinical assessment techniques. To formulate / develop and undertake an evidence-based treatment/rehabilitation plan taking into account the management options available. To plan and implement assessments to facilitate safe management/ discharge and be responsible for the risk assessment of the working and, or home environments as appropriate.
