Paediatric Occupational Therapist with First Community Health and Care in Redhill
Are you looking to improve your work/life balance and deliver high quality care to children aged 0-19 in the community? This is your chance to join First Community Health and Care, a staff owned social enterprise providing CQC Good frontline NHS services in East Surrey. We have an exciting new opportunity for a Band 6 Paediatric Occupational Therapist to join our dynamic and supportive team. Experience of working with children, young people and families with or without disabilities is desirable but not essential. We will consider full time, part time and term time only hours. This role is suited for an experienced band 6 occupational therapist or a band 5 looking for a new challenge and development opportunity. You will deliver care to children aged 0-19 with a range of conditions including Cerebral Palsy, Autistic Spectrum Disorders and learning difficulties. Working in the community means you will see children within a variety of settings, including nurseries, schools, homes and our newly established childrens centre, where you will carry out essential duties within the occupational therapy process. Interviews will be held in January 2025. Supporting children with higher levels or needs or complex backgrounds through either Health or SEN pathways Meeting with parents to address needs pre-referral Conducting standardized and non-standardized assessments for children and young persons, from early years to post 16 Assessment, recommendation and provision of equipment for moderate to complex seating systems Working in partnership with mainstream school settings to provide staff consultation and training Individual therapy sessions at home and clinic to support self-care, routine and independent living skills Direct therapy interventions in the education environment to support engagement in school based occupations Being an active participate in the Occupational Therapy Helpline for Surrey by providing ad hoc telephone advice for professional and families requiring OT support There will also be opportunities to develop your supervision and innovation skills by taking on small development projects, training opportunities and working with students. Due to the nature of the role, a valid UK full driving licence and car is essential. About us The post holder is responsible for autonomously managing a complex caseload of children with a range of varied and complex needs. This will involve specialist assessment and treatment of children with complex needs. The post holder is responsible for devising child centred therapy plans using evidence based practice to ensure that the individuals full potential is developed or maintained. They will provide clinical support, training and supervision for junior staff and students.
