In addition to clinical duties, the GP will be involved in enhancing practice governance, quality outcomes, and continuing professional development. Emphasis is placed on making independent, professional decisions, screening for health risks, and recording data for audit purposes in alignment with local health needs and standards. The position requires adherence to guidelines set by governing bodies such as the GMC and involvement in the wider objectives of the Primary Care Network.
Fixed Term 4 months with a view to extension subject to national DES contracting.
Due to the changes in the ARRS Scheme to introduce General Practitioners we are looking to expand our team by seeking to employ a newly qualified General Practitioner to join our team for three sessions a week.
To perform as an autonomous general practitioner working independently and with other health care professionals to assess, diagnose and treat the conditions of patients attending within a primary care setting.
Provide expert professional advice to patients, carers and colleagues and ensure the maintenance of clinical excellence.
To be professionally accountable and responsible for all elements of clinical practice in accordance with the GMC code of conduct ensuring the safety of patients and quality of their care is primary.
Admitting or discharging patients to and from the caseload and referring to other care providers as appropriate
Recording clear and contemporaneous consultation notes to agreed standards
Compiling and issuing computer-generated acute and repeat prescriptions
Prescribing in accordance with the ICB prescribing formulary whenever this is clinically appropriate
About us
- In accordance with the PCN, as agreed, the post-holder will make him/her-self available to undertake a variety of duties including surgery consultations, telephone/video consultations and queries, visiting patients at home, checking and signing repeat prescriptions and dealing with queries, paperwork and correspondence in a timely fashion.
- Making professional, autonomous decisions in relation to presenting problems, whether self-referred or referred from other health care workers within the practice or external organisations.
- Assessing the health needs of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems.
- Screening patients for disease risk factors and early signs of illness.
- Contributing to QOF requirements and recording data appropriately.
- Contributing to PCN requirements and recording data appropriately.
- In consultation with patients and in line with current practice disease management protocols, developing care plans for health-related illnesses.
- Screening patients for health education.
- Admitting and discharging patients to and from the caseload and referring to other care providers as appropriate.
- Recording clear and contemporaneous consultation notes to agreed standards.
- Collecting data for audit purposes and contributing to the practice audit programme as required.
- Compiling and issuing computer-generated acute and repeat prescriptions using ESP (avoiding physical or hand-written prescriptions whenever possible).
- Prescribing in accordance with the accepted prescribing formulary (or generically) whenever this is clinically appropriate.
- Take responsibility for some aspects of the clinical work within the team, for example coordinating aspects of governance, QOF, enhanced services, CPD and keeping clinical protocols up to date.
- In general, the post holder will be expected to undertake all the normal duties and responsibilities associated with a GP working within primary care, as set by Royal College of General Practitioners, General Medical council, all other Royal colleges and councils applicable to the staff within the practice, Department of Health, Clinical Commissioning Groups and all other regulatory and standard setting organisations.
