Ballards Walk Surgery is seeking a full-time Prescription Clerk/Pharmacy Assistant to join its active prescribing team in Basildon. The primary responsibilities include processing repeat prescription requests within a 72-hour timeframe, managing communication with chemists and nursing facilities, updating patient prescription information, and organizing necessary tests related to medication needs. The role involves administrative tasks, responding to queries, and ensuring compliance with prescribing guidelines and protocols, with opportunities for flexible coverage in other areas of the operation.
This position can be offered on an ongoing locum or self-employed basis, with a focus on supporting patient care through efficient prescription management and effective communication within the healthcare team. Candidates will be expected to stay informed about current prescribing practices and contribute to the overall efficiency of the pharmacy services at the surgery.

Ballards Walk Surgery has an opportunity for a prescription clerk/pharmacy assistant to join our busy prescribing team, at the heart of our patient care service.
This role is offered on a full-time, ongoing locum or self employed basis.
- Ensuring that requests for repeat prescriptions are actioned within 72 hours. This includes checking email requests and involves a rota system to cover the collection and drop off of all prescriptions from each site.
- Responding to all queries and requests from chemists, nursing homes and district nurses, regarding the issue of prescriptions.
- Keeping repeat prescription information up-to-date in the patient journal, such as letters and doctors' requests.
- Sending out review letters.
- Organising blood tests (through ICE system) or blood pressure checks for patients, relevant to their prescribing needs.
- Prescribing Incentive Scheme issue reports and letters, working around any guidelines issued to ensure budget reductions where possible.
- Medicine management liaise and discuss any enquires or queries raised by the clinical team.
- General ad hoc administration work.
- Flexibility to cover other areas when required multi-skill mix.
- Keep up-to-date with all prescribing guidelines and protocols, relevant to the position.
