To support the Practice In all Clinical areas, delivering healthcare services to our patient population. Supporting the Nursing and Multi-disciplinary teams with the delivery of Quality Healthcare. Working as part of the practice multi-disciplinary team, you will be delivering care within your scope of practice to the patient population of this practice

The Healthcare Assistant will deliver and assist clinical staff in the provision of treatment, preventative care, health promotion and patient education whilst also ensuring all documentation is updated and correct as practice policy

The following are the core responsibilities of the Healthcare assistant. There may be, on occasion, a requirement to carry out other tasks. This will be dependent upon factors such as workload and staffing levels:

Undertake patient health checks

Support the practice nurse with health promotion programmes

Carry out baseline observations such as pulse rate and rhythm , blood pressure, temperature and saturations, recording findings accurately and reporting any concerns to a clinician

Facilitate routine and 24-hour BP monitoring, advising patients accordingly

Undertake wound care

Support the practice nurse with the management of chronic disease clinics

Carry out weight management checks as directed

Chaperone patients and gynae clinics as required

Perform venepuncture as per request

Carry out ECGs as requested and report results to a clinician

Ensure specimens are tested and recorded and ready for onward transportation

Provide support during minor procedures as required

Ensure all clinical rooms are adequately stocked and prepared for each session and expiry dates monitored of all stock

Ensure fridges are cleaned and monitored as per VMC policy

Ensure clinical waste is disposed of as per waste management policy and IPC guidelines

Participate in vaccination programmes
