The Old Harlow Health Centre is seeking a full-time GP Assistant (GPA), with part-time options available for the right candidate. The role involves supporting GPs by managing administrative tasks and performing basic clinical duties to optimize consultation time. Key responsibilities include handling clinical correspondence, extracting information for coding, scheduling appointments, completing non-opinion forms for GP approval, enhancing patient flow, and assisting with various practice tasks. The Old Harlow Health Centre has a fantastic opportunity for a GP assistant (GPA) to join our team on a full-time basis (part-time would be considered for the right individual). The GPA position is a support role, covering administrative tasks and, if appropriate, some basic clinical duties, to assist the GPs, enabling them to make the best use of consultation time.
The post-holder will form part of our multi-disciplinary, primary-care team and contribute to the smooth running of the surgery. If you are a well organised person who thrives on a busy working environment, where no two days are the same, then we would love to hear from you.
- Managing incoming and outgoing clinical correspondence.
- Extracting information from clinical documents that require coding.
- Arranging appointments, referrals, tests and follow-up appointments.
- Completing basic (non-opinion) forms, and core elements of some forms, for the GP to approve and sign. These might include insurance, mortgage and benefits agency forms, for example.
- Improving patient flow.
- Supporting patient experience by reiterating information from the GP.
- Assisting with practice tasks.
- Helping the GP liaise with outside agencies e.g. arranging admission.
- Supporting the prescription clerk team.
