The Cancer Support Assistant at Chesterfield Royal Hospital NHS Foundation Trust plays a vital role in the coordination of care for cancer patients, ensuring they are seen and treated promptly within national waiting time targets. This position involves managing patient pathways, preparing clinical information, and accurately capturing cancer data for audits. The assistant will support Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT) Coordinators by facilitating the collection and validation of patient information, coordinating the booking of diagnostic tests, and ensuring compliance with national standards, particularly the new 28-day diagnosis target.

Strong communication skills are essential, as the role requires interaction with clinical and administrative teams across several departments and Trusts. Although prior experience is not required, enthusiasm for enhancing cancer patient pathways and a commitment to patient-centered care are key attributes sought by the Trust. The role also emphasises adherence to Trust values, participation in appraisals, and ongoing infection control practices.
