The role of Highly Specialist Speech and Language Therapist (SaLT) within the Youth Justice Service (YJS) at Bolton NHS Foundation Trust involves providing expert assessment and intervention for young individuals with speech, language, and communication needs (SLCN) engaged with the justice system. The position requires the therapist to work autonomously to evaluate complex communication needs using both formal and informal assessment methods, offering tailored interventions while being adaptable in their approach to engage the youth effectively.

Additionally, the therapist will manage a diverse caseload, support and train colleagues and students, and contribute to service development by implementing best practices and policies. Successful candidates may progress from Band 6 to Band 7, and will be responsible for advancing their professional development and enhancing the overall speech and language service through evidence-based initiatives.
