As a Senior Sister/Charge Nurse, within the Emergency Department, you will be responsible for ensuring that safe, effective and high-quality care is provided round-the-clock, taking the lead in the management of all clinical duties, exploring safe provision of the service through skill-mix review and allocation to workload,working in partnership with your associate director of nursing, head of nursing, matrons, clinical service groups, other wards across the healthcare group and wider trust, as well as additional services provided across the healthcare community.
You will also support the development of all staff, creating an atmosphere conducive to learning and practice development and continuously develop and enhance your own knowledge and skills, which will directly influence consistent standards of clinical practice.The Emergency Department at the Princess Alexandra Hospital NHS Trust, is one of the busiest emergency departments in the country (relative to size). Each year, the adult and paediatric departments assess, treat, admit and or discharge in excess of 100,000 patients per year. within the department there is a resuscitation, majors, further assessment, rapid assessment and treatment, streaming and respiratory areas. The department is supported by a large Urgent Treatment centre, consisting of a GP stream and Minor Injury Unit.
